Summer/FALL UPDATE: The season is off to a great start. There was a great hatch this year and we are harvesting lots of birds. We continue to work hard at First Flight Finishers. We have added and upgraded decoys, blinds, and other equipment. In addition to our regular hunts, we are now offering guided duck hunts in our new 4-person, heated w/ stove and flat screen tv/DVD, fully enclosed boat blind. These hunts are $250/person/day and include the fully guided duck and goose hunt and all the boat amenities on the river near the twin cities metro. This is a special hunt. We also offered a guaranteed hunt for the MN 5-bird early season. The hunt took place in the twin cities with next years hunt taking place in the twin cities again for $150. We still have spots available for our early season twin cities metro 5 giant Canada geese limit ($150/day) and regular season goose and duck hunts. FEB 25th / MARCH UPDATE: I was all across MO yesterday. No or only small patches of snow in fields from 50 miles south of KC to NW MO. 12,000 geese as of this morning at Squaw (just got off the phone w/ the guys who does the counts). More birds in the state. We are now on 200,000-300,000 birds. It took me literally 785 miles and tons of gas to find them. We are huting over spreads of 2,400 decoys because these are all adult birds with good success. We should be in double digits for the rest of the MO spring season. We are still booking MO and SD. We will not be at Squaw until Feb. 29th at the earliest but come March hunting this year could easily be our best season.
FEBRUARY UPDATE: WE ARE SET AND STILL BOOKING MO & SD SPRING SNOW GOOSE HUNTS. EVERYTHING IS SET FOR FEB 20 (OUR FIRST DAY OF SPRING SNOW GOOSE HUNTING). WE WILL BE HUNTING FEB 20- APRIL 10. WE HAVE NOW ADDED AN ADDITIONAL 3,000 DECOYS. SNOW GEESE HAVE STARTED THEIR MIGRATION NORTH. BIRDS HAVE BEEN SHOT AS FAR NORTH AS THE SMITHVILLE LAKE (KANSAS CITY, MO) AREA IN NUMBERS. I HAVE TALKED TO MY GUIDES & OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS IN IL, AR, KS, AND MO. THE BIRDS SHOULD BE RIGHT ON TIME TO HIT THE SQUAW CREEK AREA WHEN WE ARRIVE AS PREDICTED. JANUARY UPDATE: EVEN THOUGH THE SEASON IS OVER WE ARE STILL WORKING HARD. I SPENT LAST FRIDAY IN MO & SD GETTING THINGS SET UP FOR FEB 22 (OUR FIRST DAY OF SPRING SNOW GOOSE HUNTING). WE WILL BE HUNTING FEB 22- APRIL 10 OR WHENEVER THE SNOWS & BLUES ARE AROUND UNTIL. BOOK NOW BECAUSE WE ARE FILLING UP FAST. WE HAVE ADDED TO OUR SPREADS & ADDED MORE FIELDS IN MO & SD IN ADDITION TO MUCH MORE. CALL ME @651-442-7259 W/ ANY QUESTIONS. DECEMBER UPDATE: BOOK NOW FOR METRO & ROCHESTER. The duck season came to a close with a bang. We were shooting limits of mallards along with our geese the last 2 weeks almost daily in the field and on the water. So far WE ARE HAVING A BANNER SEASON WITH LARGE NUMBERS OF CANADA GEESE, LATE SEASON MALLARDS, AND DIVING DUCKS BEING BAGGED DURING THE DUCK SEASON. OUR EARLY SEASON WAS OUR BEST EVER WITH LIMITS BEING TAKEN DAILY. THE LATE SEASON IS HERE AND ON FIRE. FOR ALL THE DAYS HUNTED SO FAR WE HAVE BAGGED BETWEEN 5-19 BIRDS/DAY. THIS MEANS ALL BUT ONE DAY WE LIMITED OUT AND THE ONE DAY WE DIDN'T WE WERE ONE SHORT (19 OUT OF 20). I AM PREDICTING THE SAME FOR THE REST OF THE LATE SEASON AND SPRING SNOW GOOSE SEASON. We will be hunting in the Twin Cities Metro throughout the 5 bird limit late season (Dec. 17) and until the end of the season in Rochester (Dec. 23).
